Sistine Makalapua Bow “Pua”
$nameSISTINE MAKALAPUA BOW PUA 77 of Hawaii-Kai was called home by the Lord on March 15, 2016, surrounded by family at home. Pua was born in Honolulu on October 31, 1938 to Douglas and Irma Frias. She was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy class of 1958. She worked as a legal secretary for attorney Hyman Greenstein for approximately 20 years. She then left the legal field and worked for the Dept. of Education so that she could spend more time with her daughters who were growing so fast. She retired from the Dept. of Education in 1995 with 25 years of service. She traveled to Las Vegas twice a year with her husband where she loved playing the slots, the poker machines was her favorite. She enjoyed attending sporting events with her family starting from way back in the 60's when her brother was playing, as a very young boy, up until her passing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and was an excellent example of a true friend. She touched many lives with her compassion, generosity and sincere love. She will greatly be missed by everyone who knew her but especially by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel H.J. Bow, daughters Jan L. Bow (Billy) and Danette M Keola (Dwight), sisters Carley Lackey, Irma Taylor (Regis) and Winifred Barr. Hanai siblings Pearlene Blaisdell, Ralph Aona (Tonya) and Eric Aona (Pricilla). Grandchild Janette Makalapua Bow Keola and many grandanimals all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased in death by her brother Douglas W. Frias and hanai brother Danny Boy Aona. Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Augustine catholic church, 130 Ohua Avenue in Waikiki. Visitation 8:30-10:30 with mass to follow. Reception following in the courtyard of St Augustine church.
