Harold Richard Fernandez, 79, of Ookala, Hawaii, a retired Hamakua Sugar service truck driver and a Global Protective Services security guard at Laupahoehoe Transfer Station, died in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is suvived by wife BettyAnn Fernandez; son Randall H. "Randy"; daughters June Matsuda, Carolyn Martin and Desiree Kaluahine; brothers Ernest and Sam Thomas Sr., and Leonard Midallia; sisters Lyla Ann Midallia and Lorraine Acdal; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. May 21 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Laupahoehoe. Mass: 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Ookala Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire.
