Mervin Louis Kahumoku Jr., 62, of Kailua-Kona, an Air Force veteran, a federal/military and state airport aircraft rescue firefighting unit member and fire chief of the Kona International Airport Fire Department, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Emmajean; sons Willie, Mervin III and Duke; daughters Kahealani Tomberlin, Keiki Patricoski, Lahela Hatley and Puanani Weichert; brothers Harrison "Taza," Van Dewey "Joe," Makana and Kaulana; sisters Lehua Travis, Leo Nakoa, Li'i Nae'ole and Starlani Kahumoku; and 20 grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. May 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 75-230 Kalani St., Kailua-Kona.
