Wilfred Cabral Chaves, 83, of Hilo, a retired Hawaiian Reinforced Steel ironworker, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by sons Joseph and Sean Chaves, and Wilfred Tabian; daughters Doreen Spencer, Kathleen Agaran, Gwen Jamile, Stacey Furtado, Selina Meditz and Rosie Miles; stepdaughter Aileen Alvarez; brother Richard; sisters Sandy Hueu, Mildred Ayau and Linda Santos; 36 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 10 a.m. June 6 at Dodo Mortuary. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.
