JOHN MONIZ It is with a heavy heart that we announce that John Moniz, born in Paia, Maui on February 14, 1931, passed away at the age of 85, on May 18, 2016, due to pneumonia, after many years of living with Alzheimer's Disease. An outstanding athlete and graduate of Baldwin High School in 1950, John was then drafted into the Army and served in Korea from 1951-1952, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He then attended Santa Rosa Junior College, where he met Marlene Goldbeck. They were married in 1958, and returned to Hawaii to live. John worked for Aloha Airlines in Honolulu as a Terminal Agent. After retirement, they moved to Riverbank, and then Lincoln, California. John enjoyed bowling, coaching Little League baseball, and supporting the SF Giants and the 49ers. John is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marlene, sons Jeffrey (Sue), Mike (Sandy), and daughter Marcie Schwarz (Patrick), grandchildren Ryan and Chad Moniz, Chris and Emily Schwarz, and Kristin Moniz, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park in Kaneohe, Hawaii, on July 9, 2016 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
