Toshihiko "Chic" Asakawa, 89, of Hilo, a retired carpenter with the Hawaii Carpenters Union Local 745, Hawaii County building construction inspector for the Building Department, and state Department of Accounting and General Services structural building inspector, died in Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. He also was an Army veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War. He was born in Pahoa, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Hanayo, sons Robert and Ralph, and two grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. June 8 at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2, Hilo. Casual attire.
