SAMUEL SHIRO TAKUSHI Age 80, of Waipahu, HI, passed away June 1, 2016 in Waipahu, HI. Born July 31, 1935 in Waipahu, HI. Retired United States Army Sergeant First Class who served in Vietnam. He worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop 64 and the Hawaii State Department of Education. Long- time baseball coach. Enjoyed playing softball, bowling, karaoke, and visiting the "Ninth Island". He is survived by wife, Margarete I. Takushi; sons, Glen I. (Diane) Takushi, Edward T. (Grace) Takushi, Steven M. (Rene) Takushi; brother, Kiyoshi (Matsue) Takushi; sisters, Kimiko Kamisato, Yoshiko Kaneshiro, Lilly Tokuhara; 5 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren. Visitation 9:30 a.m., Wednesday (July 6) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Committal service 10:30 a.m., Thursday (July 7) at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Casual/ Aloha attire.
