Joan Feyereisen White
JOAN FEYEREISEN WHITE Joanie died at home surrounded by family on June 14, 2016. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, August 22, 1922 to John and Grace Feyereisen. The youngest of five children, she grew up in Minnesota, attended Morehead State College and earned her Diploma in nursing from St John's Hospital. Her adventures in Hawaii began at Puumaile Hospital at the age of 24. She met Alan G. White in Hilo, and married in 1952. Honolulu became their home in 1954, where they completed their family of seven daughters. Joanie was active in University Extension, Girl Scouts, her church, UH sports, and her One Kalakaua community. She worked as a nurse and retired from Arcadia Retirement Community. Her life and legacy were her family. Preceded in death by her husband, Alan, she will be missed by her daughters Elizabeth White (Terry Denton), Barb "Punkie" Krause (Fred), Jeannie Pentz (Bill, deceased), Mary Jo Fong (Norman), Pat White (Dan Turban), Bonnie Fong (Fred), and Donna White (Lisa Parker), 12 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, as well as extended family and friends. Visitation will be July 9th at 9:30 AM prior to a 10 AM mass at the Newman Center, UH campus. A reception follows at One Kalakaua (1314 Kalakaua Ave) from noon to 2 PM. Memorials can be made to Catholic Charities of Hawaii.
