Desmond Y. Taketa, 85, of Hilo, a retired clerk for the Hawaii County Real Property Tax Office and an Army veteran, died in Pohai Malama. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Sue, sons Dale and Alvin, daughters Charlotte Toda and Lynette Fukushima, sisters Eleanor Kurata and Jane T. Rice, and three grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. July 12 at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
