Paula Dee Leilani (Takaki) Gambol
$namePAULA DEE LEILANI (TAKAKI) GAMBOL 50, of Hilo, formerly of Kailua-Kona, died at home on June 8th, surrounded by her beloved husband and Ohana. Her natural beauty, talent and passion for hula earned her several titles: 1982 Miss Hula Maui, 1st runner-up; 1983 Miss Kona Coffee, 1st Princess; Under the direction of Kumu Hula Uncle George Na`ope, she was the 3rd runner up in the 1983 Miss Hula, Merry Monarch hula competition; 1984 Billfish Queen. A 1983 graduate of Konawaena High School, she also attended University of Hawaii at Hilo. She was a former Bank of Hawaii Money Processing Center Manager. Visitation: 1:00pm, Eulogy: 1:45pm, Funeral Mass to follow on Saturday, July 16 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Honolulu. Survived by husband, Gerald "Buddy" Gambol Jr., Sons, Bronson (Chelsie) Gambol, Jordan (Kawena) Gambol, Logan Gambol, daughter, Anela Gambol and 6 Grandchildren all of Hilo. Parents: Kenneth Takaki and the late Jean Takaki who passed away two weeks after her daughter Paula. Siblings: Shawn, Shayn and Keniann Takaki all of Kailua-Kona. Honolulu Ohana: In-Laws, Barbara Gambol and the late Gerald Gambol Sr.; Gerrit "Chucky" Gambol, Audrey Hall (Texas), Tina Duncan (San Diego) and Lianne Gilbert (North Carolina).
