HOKULANI AUNTY HOKU DE REGO Hokulani age 57 of Waipahu, HI, passed away at 9:22 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016. Born July 30, 1958 in Wahiawa, HI. Aunty Hoku's achievement as a kumu hula spanned more than 30 years. She participated in many prestigious hula festivals, including the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, the Queen Lili'uokalani Keiki Hula Festival, the George Na'ope King Kalakaua Hula Festival in Kailua-Kona, The Kapu Kinimaka, Kaua'i Polynesian Festival, and Ehulani Lum's "la Oe E Ka La," Hula Festival in Pleasanton California. Aunty Hokulani with her husband Larry founded the "Hula 'Oni E, Hula Festival" at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort, this September will mark this festival's 25th Anniversary. She is survived by husband, Lawrence Kia'iokalani De Rego; daughters, Kehaulani Kaleikaulana Ka'ihe (Kanoa) Kawai, Leilani Kahikilaulani De Rego, Blossom Teuilalani Kaleikoa Kaipo (Edwardo) Fabregas, Kim U'ilani (Nelson) Nakamitsu, Lohelani De Rego; hanai daughters; Amber Leonani Naho'oikaika, Donalyn Hi'ilei Dela Cruz, Sally Kananikamaha'o Sakama, Yuko Lauli'I Yagihashi; Nani Kamali'i-Chang; sons, Larry Clark (Evelyn) De Rego, Dustin Pihe De Rego; brothers, Cupid Panihau (Darlene) Cruz, Greg (Marianne) Cruz; sisters, Charlene Puanani Diamond, Darlene Kehaulani Butts, Danette Momi (Keli'i) Cruz - Losano; hanai sisters, Luana Na'o Pula, Susan Na'o (Bala) Mudaliar, Angie (Rudy) Tripp-Willis, Theone "Tweet" Mokuau; 23 grand- children; 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation 5:00 - 9:00 p.m., Thursday (July 21) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Wake service 7:00 p.m. Casual/Aloha attire. Flowers welcome.
