Lt. Col. (Ret.) George Lulu’upuaokauikawekiu Kekuna
LT. COL. GEORGE LULU'UPUAOKAUIKAWEKIU KEKUNA George L. Kekuna, 84, of Mililani, Hawaii, a career military veteran serving 29 years (1952-1981) in the U.S. Air Force, received his First Wings on June 10, 1959, at Laredo Air Force Base and his Last Wings fifty-seven years later on June 9, 2016, Honolulu, his loving wife Helen at his side. Born September 24, 1931, in Hilo, the son of the late Solomon and Annabelle Manu Kekuna. Graduated from Punahou School (Class of '48), Chaminade University (B.G.S.); and Central Michigan University (M.A.). Appointed Deputy Director Designate of Oahu Civil Defense Agency; Executive Assistant, Office of the Mayor; Deputy Director, Department of Auditoriums. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grand- father, he will forever be in our hearts. Survived by wife Helen L. Kekuna; children Denise, Debra (Greg), Betty (Glenn), George, Jr.; grandchildren Kawai (Sarahlea), Kai (Marissa), Kawehi, Kamana (Jenna), Kawekiu; great-grandchildren Ki'eki'e, Kalama, Kamanu, Kaui, Ko'i, Kaiaumalie. Visitation 9:30 -11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary-Mauka Chapel; Service 11:00 a.m.; Inurnment 3:00 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
