Thomas George Stewart
$nameTHOMAS GEORGE STEWART JUNE 22, 1944 TO JULY 22, 2016 Tom was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated in 1958 from Pullman Elementary School and graduated in 1962 from Fenger High School. He played basketball, baseball and golf and attended First Presbyterian Church of Roseland. He served in the U.S. Army in 1968-1970. He was an NCO staff sergeant stationed at Fort Shafter in Honolulu, Hawaii and worked as a bartender at Fort DeRussy. After serving in the army for two years, he went home to Chicago to tell his parents that he was going to make Hawaii his home. His first job was for Spencecliff where he worked in the many restaurants. It was at Tiki Broil-your-own restaurant where he met the love of his life, Sky. He always bragged at how he worked so hard to impress her. They married in December 1979, and in October of 1980, they became parents to their daughter, Vanessa. His current position was as Assistant General Manager of ALSCO. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, he also supported and participated in many charities including, Visitor Industry Charity Walk, Hawaii Food Bank and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Anyone who knew Tom, knew he loved sports, his favorite teams were the Boston Celtics, and the Chicago White Sox. His passion was golf, he watched it, played it and loved it. He also served as president of the Beachboys Golf Club. Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sky, his one and only daughter Vanessa (Joe Gorbea), two grandchildren, Joseph and Violet, his brother Jimmy Stewart, sisters Judy Jackson and Nancy Kalagian and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services are set for Friday, July 29, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko`olau, 4 p.m. visitation, 5-6 p.m. service. In lieu of fl owers, consider a donation to Shriner's Hospital of Honolulu in memory of Tom Stewart. Casual/Aloha attire.
