GEORGE WINFIELD STOTT, JR.
GEORGE WINFIELD STOTT, JR. 7/18/1933-7/20/2016 George Stott left the island he loved just 2 days after his 83rd birthday, peacefully looking at his daily view of Kailua Bay as he said Aloha. An icon in the Real Estate community of Oahu from 1976 until his full retirement last year, George left a true legacy. While Parkinson's disease had him declining over the last few years, he was alert, reading his paper and watching the news every day, right up to the end. Mr. Stott was a resident of the Windward Side in Kailua for nearly 50 years. July 18'th was a great last birthday with his daughter Tracey Stott Kelley reading him a beautiful personal letter listing all the reasons he was such a wonderful father and role model for her and his son Mike Stott and his wife Donna singing Happy Birthday, with George joining in the last stanza singing "Happy Birthday to me" with a smile in his voice. Long before his real estate career, George was born in San Diego to a military family, coming to Oahu as a child and attending Punahou in the 2'nd grade. The family eventually settled in the Washington DC area and George graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1955. A little known fact is during his Senior Year, George served as the watchdog for a young plebe by the name of John McCain, helping him out of more than a few scrapes during that first year. They were both boxers at the Academy. George married Mary Lou Dempf upon graduation and the two thoroughly enjoyed traveling with George's military career as a Nuclear Submarine Commander. The Stott family settled on Oahu long before George's military retirement, raising 3 children on the windward side. Upon military retirement in 1976, George completed his Master's Degree in Business at the University of Hawaii and began his real estate dynasty, opening his own company in 1978 with a commitment to serve local and military families. The company remains today with Tracey Stott Kelley and her husband Tim carrying on his tradition of excellence. Stott was well known for his high integrity and commitment to doing the right thing. Agents trained under his tutelage are like a Who's Who in Real Estate today, many of whom are Brokers today of their own successful companies. His creative and innovative systems and thought provoking method of teaching created many great agents who have written the family this week about how much he meant to them. George is remembered as a wonderful Husband, Father, Broker, and friend. His dedication and love of his wife Mary Lou was apparent every time he looked at her. His family said it was a joy to watch George watch Mary Lou, with absolute adoration in his eyes. He loved to read and to travel, visiting all seven continents over his lifetime as a life-long learner and adventurer. George leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Stott; his son, Mike Stott and his wife Donna, his daughter, Helen Storch and her husband Ken, and his daughter Tracey Stott Kelley and her husband Tim, along with seven grandchildren David Pearl and his wife Lillian, Denise Burke and her husband Jon, Danielle Bazemore and her husband James, Michael Stott, Ashley Kelley, Mark Kelley, and Matthew Stott; and finally, 2 great-grandchildren - Zoey Burke and Derek Pearl. While his passing will be mourned, his life will be celebrated in the legacy he is leaving behind. Celebration of Life will be held at St. John Vianney in Kailua on August 8th at 10:00. Visitation at 9:30.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
