MONETTA KAWAIPONIPUOLULEHUAAKAMANU SIMONE Monetta Kawaiponipuolulehuaakamanu Simone passed away peacefully at her Waikiki home on June 24, 2016. She now joins her loving husband Bill who passed on October 20, 2006 and leaves behind the following family members: brothers, Randy Folk and Buster Folk; step-sons, Mike Simone, David Simone and Mark Simone; sister in-law, Kathy McDougall and cousin Wanda Kimseu. Monetta (A.K.A. Mo, Tetta and Kawai to family and friends) was born in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii on September 3, 1944. She was born to Walter Waipuna McDougall and Mary Gay. Monetta was active in Hula since early childhood and throughout her life. She moved to the mainland soon after high school and met the love of her life Bill Simone at Bob's Big Boy restaurant where they both worked. They married in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 14, 1968 and were happily married for 38+ years. Bill and Monetta soon moved back to the islands where she worked for the Don Ho show. Bill and Monetta opened "Bill's Beach Boy Hamburgers", a large lunch wagon located at Sandy Beach and at the Ala Wai Marina. They sold the business and then opened the King's Pub, a local dart bar. Bill and Monetta raised Cognac, Monique then Jake and Brandi their miniature poodle "children" which Monetta loved dearly. Gia her current Chihuahua puppy is being cared for by friends and will soon find a loving home. Everyone knew Monetta as a caring, loving person who literally was incapable of telling a lie. She will be missed by all who knew her and whose lives were touched by her kind soul. A Remembrance Ceremony will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, Kaneohe, Hawaii on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. She will be buried with Bill (at the adjacent) Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made in care of the Veteran's Association
