Carl Tatsuo Sakata, 88, of Kailua, a retired state Department of Education budget analyst and a Coast Guard veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Jean; son Michael; daughters Nancy Chiu, Carrie Matsukawa and Jamie Young; and 10 grandchildren. Visitation: 10 a.m. Aug. 15 at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. Services: 10:30 a.m. Committal services: 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe.
