JANE FUMIE SAKIMA Jane Fumie Sakima passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2016. She was 93 years old. She was born on April 1, 1923, Honolulu, Hawaii to Seiko and Tsuru Asato. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Higa, son, Howard Sakima, two sisters, Betsy T. Miyahira and Amy T. Maruyama, 4 grand- children, and 4 great grand children. Her husband, Akira Sakima, predeceased her. As the saying goes: behind every man, there is a strong woman. Jane was that strong woman behind her husband as he went from being a hog farmer into politics then community service as a founding board member of Kokua Kalihi Valley. She was a founding member of Hui O Laulima, a certified instructor with the Paranku Club of Hawaii, member of Ginowan Shi Jin Kai and a member of the Community of Christ, Kalihi Congregation. Memorial Services will be held on August 16, 2016 at 6 pm at the Hosoi Mortuary. Visitation will be at 5 pm. Casual attire, no flowers.
