Alfredo Cacho Cabanting Sr., 87, of Keaau, Hawaii, a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Puna Sugar Co. and a proprietor of a papaya farm and guava farm, died in Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born in Narvacan, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He is survived by wife Leonila; sons Alfredo Jr., Michael and Benido; daughters Glory Nemedez, Nelie Lazaro, Chastity Young and Merlin Foreman; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Aug. 19 at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 7 p.m. All-night vigil to follow at the family residence at 16-281 Pohaku Drive, Keaau. Burial: 10 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
