Manuel Elizares Jr., also known as "Horse" and "Elgato," 77, of Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, a retired truck driver for the former Big Island Meat Co., a subsidiary of Hamakua Sugar Co., and an employee of Pu'u Wa'awa'a Ranch and Parker Ranch, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Pohakea, Paauilo, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Gail; son Carson; daughters Roxanne Levitt, Shawna Jardine, Alison Villasista, Sherry Dias, Christine Tabac, Rachael Segawa, Shine Carvalho and Lolly and Cynthia Elizares; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Sept. 3 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Papaaloa. Mass: 9:30 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
