81Martha Fernandez Tavares, 88, of Kuau, Maui, a homemaker and sales associate at the F.W. Woolworth store in Kahului, died in Hale Makua Kahului. She was born in Paia, Maui. She is survived by husband William D.; sons James W. and Paul A., daughters Susan Tavares-Kenney and Mary E. Costales; sisters Carmen Carlson, Edna Zane, Lourdes Saito and Lucy Snead; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Sept. 3 at Holy Rosary Church, Paia.
