78Valentine Kihapiilani Taka, 86, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii County engineering inspector and a Hawaii County surveyor, died at his family's residence. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by sons Wayne and Theodore, daughter Valerie Oskins, brothers Samuel and Daniel, sister Victoria Chan, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at Hilo Seventhday Adventist Church. Services: 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation: 8:30 a.m. Sept. 23 at the church. Services: 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Hilo. Casual attire.
