Patricia “Patsy” L. Gibson
$namePATRICIA PATSY L. GIBSON March 4, 1928 � August 31, 2016 Patsy L. Gibson, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully at home in Waialua, HI on August 31, 2016. Born March 4, 1928 in Pasadena, CA, she was the oldest of two daughters to Wilbur and Dorothy Larrabee. Patsy graduated from La Jolla High School and attended San Diego State University, studying Home Economics and Child Care. She moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1953. Patsy lived in Honolulu until the 1980s when she made Waialua her home and community. Patsy split her professional careers between party planning through her co-owned company Tad & Pat, and community service, most notably through the Garden Club of Honolulu, and The Outdoor Circle. She served in many roles, leadership, money raising, mentoring, and organizing projects like the "Ke Ala Pupukea Bike Path in Haleiwa", tree planting on Kaukonahua Road, and the landscaping Haleiwa's Weed Circle. Through Patsy's participation in the Garden Club of Honolulu, she served as a lifetime Zone XII Garden Club of America Flower Show Judge and it gave her the opportunity to travel and judge at some of the largest Flower Shows in the world. Patsy was an outstanding musician and singer and performed with the San Diego Starlight Opera and the Honolulu Symphony. She demonstrated her business skills first with her small craft business, "Drift Mobiles of Hawaii" and then with her party consultant role in Tad & Pat, planning events for two presidents, a prince, the Smithsonian, and Forbes over her 20 year tenure. She has also been recognized locally and nationally, The Garden Club of Honolulu Continuing Service Award, May, 1992; the Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii, Green Industry Award, March, 1994, Garden Club of Honolulu observance of Women's History Month Active Community Service Award, March 2001, and The Garden Club of America Medal of Merit, May 2013, She is survived by her best friend, Marilyn Martinson, younger sister, Cynthia Cooper, children: Cindy Jenness, Kerry Gibson-Morris, and Gregory Gibson, grandchildren, Natasha, Alexandra, and Julia, and great-grandchild, Keaton. Our lives were blessed by her aloha spirit, a beautiful singing voice, and her contagious laughter. Patsy's Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Waimea Falls Park, Pikake Pavilion.
