Ira Cho Kekaualua Sr., 80, of Hilo, a retired truck driver with the former HT&T Co. in Hilo and E.C. Trucking, and an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, died in Hilo Medical Center. He also was founder, president and head coach of Hui Wa'a o Waiakea Canoe Club. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Barbara K.K.; sons Rupert N., Douglas D., Ira C. Jr., Dudley D. and Heath H. "Hidey"; daughters Rowena "Nani" Roan, Lisa G.K. Medeiros, Frances H. "Fanny" Hashimoto, Rose K. "Momi" Leopoldino and Nami U. and Barbara K.K. "Manu" Kekaualua; brother Genesis E. "Genny"; sisters Beverly P. "ntPua" Crumb and Robyne "Dolly" Pacheco; 53 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation: 9 a.m. Sept. 25 at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 11 a.m. Graveside committal services: noon Sept. 26 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
