Lionel Kealii Chartrand, 66, of Hilo, co-owner of Chartrand Excavation and a truck driver for Jas. W. Glover and HT&T in Hilo, will be remembered in services 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at Dodo Mortuary. He died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Deborah; sons Lewin, Kealii, Keanalu, Keanukai and Lorrin Chartrand, and Kaipo Rocha; daughters Raylene Pratt, Dina Tamura and Kealani Chartrand; brothers Larry Chartrand, and Melvin, Henry, Gerald, Bennett, Edwin and Mighty Young; sisters Edith Kahooalii, Isabelle Kanoa, Lorraine Kalakau, Leinaala and Irene Young, and Verna Haili; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at the mortuary. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
