Dwight Akita of Kalaheo, Hawai'i passed away at the age of 72 on November 27, 2016 at home. Born on August 3, 1944 in Waimea, he was an U.S. Army Veteran and fire-man. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Akita; sons, Dwight (Lisa) Akita of Kalaheo, Kimo (Karen) Akita of Kalaheo, Kevin (Julie) Akita of Kalaheo; eight grandchildren, Sandra, Karlee, Seth, Kash, Hunter, Keoni, Teivyn, and Taeley; brothers, Dean (Youngie) Akita of California, Dana (Marjorie) Akita of Lawai, and Darick (Maxine) Akita of Kekaha; sister, Adelaide (Ray) Emura of Kekaha; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kekaha on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
