FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Maridell Boucher Alexander, “Tutu”
Maridell Boucher Alexander, MARIDELL BOUCHER ALEXANDER, TUTU 1/13/1917 - 12/3/2016 passed away peacefully at Arcadia Retirement Home in Honolulu just shy of her 100th birthday. Born in Juneau, Alaska she lived in Seattle, Chicago and San Diego. She graduated from San Diego High School and then attended San Diego State University where she was one of their first song leaders. She moved to Hawaii in 1936 and married Earle M. Alexander II (deceased 1985). They raised three children in Kailua and moved to Honolulu in 1959. Maridell's community activities centered around her family. She was one of the original organizers of the Aulea Swim Club in the early 50's and a founder of the Hawaii School for Girls (La Pietra) in the early 60's. She was involved in the Punahou PFA and served as carnival chairman in 1969. She was also active in the Outdoor Circle, the Garden Club of Honolulu and Reader's Theatre. Maridell moved to Arcadia Retirement Home in 1999 and was active in its many activities. She even performed in Jack Cione's Arcadia Follies until she was 96. Maridell loved and supported her family unconditionally, and provided the glue that kept her family close. Always positive and cheerful, she genuinely cared for others and unfailingly remembered names and family details. Maridell gave so much to those around her and always had a kind word for everyone. Tutu had a warm, fun loving spirit. She loved to go to the theatre, do the hula, spend time with friends and family and most of all adored a lively party. She was consistently the first to take her shoes off on the dance floor and the last to leave! She was an avid world traveler and on many occasions included her children, their spouses and grandchildren on her adventures. She is survived by her children Earle (Lex) M. Alexander III of Honolulu, William S. Alexander of Athol, Idaho, Wendy A. Tait of Rancho Santa Fe, California, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A private Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, which would have been Maridell's 100th birthday. Arrangements Provided By: Ultimate Cremation Services LLC
