Carole Ann Wasnich
Age 75, of Honolulu, died on December 22, 2016. Carole was born on August 31, 1941 in Ohio. She attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, OH, majoring in education. While working as a waitress in a campus dining room, she met a busboy and her future husband. They married in June 1963 and moved to Maryland, where she taught school in inner city Baltimore while he attended medical school. Subsequent training and military obligations took them to New York City, Pearl Harbor, and Stanford, before settling permanently in Honolulu in 1973. Hawaii would be Carole's beloved home for the rest of her life. Through the years, she worked as a substitute teacher and was an astute business and property manager. She was a loving wife, mother and friend whose worry wort tendencies demonstrated a caring nature. Kind and thoughtful, she also possessed a tenacity that served her and her family well in facing life's challenging situations. Her sense of humor, easy laugh, and unceasing desire to connect with others were true to the end, even in the face of the Alzheimer's Disease she suffered in her later years. Carole is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard Wasnich, son Ian, daughter Kaela, daughter-in-law Rujinee (Tu), and granddaughter Natasha, all of Honolulu; and sister Lee Ann Heller of Wauwatosa, WI. She was preceded in death by her brother, Wade Boyle. In addition to private services, a living, online memorial for Carole can be found at www.tributes.com.
