FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Eiko Shishido
Eiko ShishidoEiko Shishido, age 87, passed away and entered into eternal everlasting love and peace on December 7, 2016. Eiko was born to Nisaku and Mitsu Moriya in Tokyo on January 3, 1929. After high school graduation in 1946, she was courted by Isao Shishido and married in April 1949. In March 1961, she with her three children, embarked on the USS President Cleveland and arrived in Hawaii, rejoining her husband, who was called earlier to support his ailing mother, Kaku. Soon after, Eiko began her typesetting career at the Hawaii Times newspaper agency. She gave birth to Craig in 1962. She later continued her career with the other Japanese newspaper agency in Honolulu, the Hawaii Hochi, till her retirement in January 1998. Eiko was a devoted, caring and loving wife to Isao until his passing in June of 1988. She was a caring, loving mother to Joyce Mayumi Fukata, Sandy (Franklin Odel) Harumi Shishido, Roy (Danette) Tsukasa Shishido and Craig (Mish) Kazuyoshi Shishido. Eiko was a delightful grandmother to Marcus Katsuji Keala Shishido, Dana (Julie) Rei Fukata, Scott Daizo Keola Shishido, Dustin Kei Fukata, Brianna (Eric) Megumi Walther, and Craig Isao Shishido Jr. She immensely enjoyed being a great grandmother to Naomi Ululani Shishido, Katelyn Mayuka Fukata, Caleb Walther, Darren Chi Yeung Fukata and Soheila Kealohalani Shishido. The family would like to express their sincerest and deepest gratitude to: Sonia Pagdilao, Eiko's caregiver for her exceptional, loving care, always reflected in Eiko's shining spirit. Dr. Pangilinan and the nursing staff of Kuakini Hospital for their kind, considerate and professional care during Eiko's last days. Moiliili Community Center for their excellent senior program; where Eiko enjoyed many classes and activities and formed lasting bonds and friendships. Eiko, has been laid to rest alongside her husband, Isao, in the family monument at the Nuuanu Memorial Park Cemetery. Private services, conducted by Reverend Ishii, were held at the Nuuanu Soto Mission on the 21st of December.
