DONALD BERTRAM AH CHONG, SR. Donald Bertram Ah Chong, Sr., 72, of Keaau died Dec. 17 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired electrician and Nuclear General Forman for Shop 51 at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard on Oahu, a retired electrician from Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, a member of Na Ali'i Golf Club, Banyan Bay Golf Club, and a veteran of the U.S. Army's "Big Red One 1st Infantry Division." Visitation from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday (January 21, 2017) at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama on Oahu; a celebration of his life will begin at 3:30. Casual attire. Family requests no flowers. Survived by wife, Bernadette Ah Chong of Hilo; sons, Donald "Duke" (Renee) Ah Chong, Jr. of Mililani, Darren (Sonya) Ah Chong of Keaau, Derek (Cindy Kaneakua) Ah Chong of Keaau, Devin Ah Chong of Keaau; brothers, George (Caroline) Ah Chong of Kurtistown, John "Chop" (Myrna) Ah Chong, Jr. of Kaneohe, Clifford "Moses" (Debra) Ah Chong of Keaau; sister, Julia (Wayne) Takano of Kaneohe; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
