Edmund Ikuo Sugawa, loving father, husband, and grandfather, 69, left this world on December 13, 2016. He was born November 29, 1947 in Honolulu, Hawai'i, to Ben and Gladys (Imoto) Sugawa. After growing up in various towns across North America and Europe, Ed graduated from Leilehua High School in 1966. He attended the University of Hawai'i at Manoa but enlisted in the Army while still a student, serving in Vietnam. Ed received a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged as a Captain before resuming his studies at UH, graduating in 1974. Ed co-founded EMEE Kitchens & Baths with his wife Myrna. Ed was an avid sports fan, athlete, and coach; an excellent cook; and a talented musician. He had a joy for life and a love of laughter that was unmatched. Ed is survived by his mother, Gladys; daughters, Rochelle, Jennifer, and Kimberly (Richard) Stuart; granddaughter Nalani; siblings, Ivan, Thesa (Frank) Hudek, and Constance (Carl) Phillips. Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, January 23, 2017, Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
