71, passed away on November 26, 2016 in Honolulu. She was born in 1945 at the Naval Academy Hospital in Annapolis. A high school teacher, editor, and student of Chinese art, she lived in Asia for 22 years during her husband's diplomatic career. Susan was a 1967 graduate of Mount Holyoke College and 1968 graduate of Columbia University's Teachers College. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Raymond Burghardt, her daughters Helen Hayashi and Caroline Burghardt and grandson Martin Hayashi. A private service was held on December 2 at the Waialae Country Club, presided over by Fr. David Kennedy of St. Andrew's Cathedral. A service for mainland friends will be held this summer in Osterville, MA. Arrangements Provided By: Borthwick Mortuary
