Philip Suen Tien “Tenny” Ching
Philip Suen Tien 83, of Honolulu, passed peacefully on January 14, 2017. Philip was born on August 7, 1933 to George Chin Choy Ching and Rose Meu Lin (Chock) Ching. He is survived by wife Shrue, his children by his late ex-wife Sadako Warren Etse, sons Warren Wo On "Sonnyboy" (Youmilane), George Keoki Kalanui (Joan) and daughter Phyllis Rose Mahealani (Domsiano). Philip is additionally survived by his step-daughters Arleen and Evangeline, step- sons Augustine Kohler (Lisa), Randy Ching (Lorynne) and Joas Suda, 32 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, as well as brothers Francis (Carolyn), and Bernard (Alfreda), and sister Theresa (Newton) Nakamoto. Philip was a graduate of Saint Louis High School and was a beloved and devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, grand- father, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Philip worked for Global Associates on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands and in several sports related capacities with the State, National and college levels, within the Federated States of Micronesia. Phil was well known for his strong advocacy in mentoring youth involvement in sports. After his retirement, he returned to Honolulu. Services on February 11, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel. Public viewing and visitation at 10:30 am; service at 11:30 am. Burial service at 3 pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha/casual attire. No flowers.
