FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

CLARENCE PACARRO
CLARENCE PACARROThe "Governor" of Pu'unui and "Grandpa" to many. Clarence Pacarro, longtime resident of Pu'unui, colleague and coach to many, friend and advocate to all, and "Grandpa" to thousands, died Thursday at age 88. Born to Julia and Frank Pacarro on October 13th in 1928 in Watertown on Oahu, he was the fourth of eight children in the Pacarro family. In his early years the family moved to Makawele, Kauai, then moved back to Honolulu, eventually settling in Pu'unui. In their youth, he and his brothers were known for their basketball team, winning several tournaments throughout the state. After graduating from Farrington High School, Pacarro began his career at the Dole Company where he met his wife Theodosia "Teddi" Pacarro. The two were married in 1950. He was employed by Dole until the mid-seventies, and served in the Army National Guard for ten years. Later, Pacarro joined Midas Hawaii as Sales Manager, where he was known for treating all customers like family, and as a result, earned numerous national sales awards. He also purchased, ran, and ultimately sold the Waialae Laundromat. Pacarro was a generous man who led by example, worked hard, put family first, and never turned away someone in need. He was nicknamed "the governor" because without hesitation he converted friends into family, and with a fair and big heart, looked after many who were "hana'e-d" over the years. His true passion was for the game of basketball. Pacarro was a legendary coach who touched the lives of thousands during his years coaching at Farrington, Mid-Pacific Institute, and Punahou School. Through basketball he would teach character and sportsmanship; his motto was "Always be humble, don't grumble, just smile." An advocate of so many young athletes, in his later years he was fondly known as "Grandpa" by his players, both on and off the court. Pacarro passed away peacefully at The Villas at St. Francis with family by his side. He is survived by his wife Theodosia Pacarro, his children Gary Pacarro, Charles Pacarro, Julie Stout, and Colin Pacarro, grandchildren Kahi Pacarro, Noel Pacarro Brown, Tony Pacarro, Bobby Pacarro, Juliann Pacarro, Kristin Pacarro, Brittany Pacarro, Andrew Pacarro, Alissa Pacarro, and his nine great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at Thurston Chapel at Punahou School on Saturday February 18th. Visitation will begin at 1:15pm with a service to follow at 2:30pm.
