GORDON HIDETO ITO
72, passed away on February 3, 2017, but not without leaving an indelible mark in Hawaii's healthcare community. After a successful career in commercial lending for a local financial institution, Gordon made a major career shift and co-founded Oahu Care Facility in 1986, followed by Pearl City Nursing Home in 1995, and Community Case Management Corp. in 2001. Kulana Malama, Hawaii's first stand-alone long-term care facility for medically fragile children, opened in 2007. In 2009, Gordon acquired Kokua Nurses, and in 2014, he added Malama Adult Day Care to what is now the Ito Healthcare Group. Gordon and his wife, June, established the Gordon and June Ito Foundation in 2009 to provide annual scholarships for undergraduate nursing students and graduate social work students. He will be missed by his wife June, his three children: daughter Maedene Wakabayashi and son-in-law Lyle, his son Randall, daughter Robyn McKinney and her husband Chris, and two grandchildren, Ty and Tess Wakabayashi. Services for Gordon Ito are scheduled at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary on Monday, February 27, at 4:30 pm. Visitation will be at 3:30 pm.
