Herbert De Silva
Herbert De Silva90, born in Hawi, N. Kohala, Big Isl of HI, died Jan. 15 in Mililani, Isl of Oahu, HI. He was an doorman and usher for the Hawi Theater, bus driver for a Kohala School, served with U.S. Army Airforce, Squadron C in Greensboro NC in 1945, aircraft mechanic for Aloha Airlines, Lockheed and Douglas Aircrafts, and retired as a major appliance repairman for Gold Services. Survived by daughters: Elverta "Vert" Yamanaka Yoshida of Kealakekua, Big Isl of HI and Cora De Silva of Mililani; sons: Eric (Bonnie) De Silva of Hilo, Big Isl of HI, and Dana De Silva of Mililani; Sisters: Ethel Yamamoto of Kapaau, Big Isl of HI, Thelma (Owen) Pool of Arizona, Shirley (David) Henderson of LA, RoseMarie (Gary) De Pontes of Kona, Big Isl of HI, Joanne (Walter) David of Kona; brothers: Edward Gomes of CA, and John Costa of Honokaa, Big Isl of HI; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, grand- nephews, and grandnieces. Visitation 9am-11am at Makai Chapel at Mililani Memorial Park, Waipahu, on Oahu, Feb.27. Funeral service 11am, burial 12:30pm. Casual/Aloha attire and flowers welcomed.
