Edna (Mae) Wright Smith
Edna (Mae) Wright SmithEdna (Mae) Wright Smith, 101 years, of Cobleskill, New York and Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her New York residence on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Edna resided in Hawaii during the winter months for over 30 years visiting and enjoying time with her grandchildren. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Honolulu and was a regular volunteer at their Food Bank. Genealogy was her passion, researching and tracing several Revolutionary War ancestors on both her and husband Elbridge's side of the family; she also then traced Elbridge and herself back to the Mayflower. The Daughters of the American Revolution [DAR] was her love. Edna was a 57 year active member of Captain Christian Brown Chapter in NY, where she also held several State and National offices; she was also an active associate member of the Aloha Chapter, DAR, Hawaii for over 20 years. Her hobbies included reading, photography, knitting, baking, canning preserves, and gardening. Edna had been an exhibitor at the Schoharie County (Cobleskill) Sunshine Fair for 70 years, winning many blue ribbons and several Best of Show prizes. She is survived by two children: Elbridge W. (Diane) Smith of Kailua, Hawaii and Priscilla (Ron) Davis of Cobleskill, NY; three grandchildren: Elbridge Z. (Jill) Smith of Kailua, Meredith K. (James) Word of Kaneohe, and Kyle A. Davis of Cobleskill; two great-grandchildren, Lane G. Davis of Cobleskill and Liam Ka`eo Word of Kaneohe. A memorial service is pending at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Fort Plain, NY.
