Elizabeth “Betty” Kepio Ontai Parker
Elizabeth "Betty" Kepio Ontai Parker, 90, passed away on February 4, 2017. She was born on July 12, 1926, in Olelomoana, South Kona, Hawaii, to James Kimo Ontai and Elizabeth Puhipau Eleneka. She is survived by: sons Lionel Jr. (Sharon), Allan (Kehau), and Clifford; daughters Penny Emmons (Thomas), and Lora Contreras (Manuel). She was affectionately known as TutuB to her 11 grand- children, and 12 great grand- children. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Lionel K. Parker, Sr. Elizabeth enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a longtime member of the Lanakila Senior Center, and their Hawaiian and Portuguese Cultural Clubs, where she authored numerous articles about growing up in Kona. She enjoyed working in sales during her younger years, read a lot and liked to write. She was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 2669, the Alu Like Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna program, and the Kaimuki Christian Church. She danced Hula and played ukulele, performing amazingly and wonderfully at her 90th birthday celebration. She was very strong, caring, and giving, fulfilling all that would be asked of a spouse, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her presence will be greatly missed. A hui hou!
