Wilbert Castro aka "Sonny" by friends and family, 84, passed away on February 1, 2017 at home in Kailua, Hawaii. He was a 3rd generation Kamaaina and the youngest son of Manuel and Gussie Castro. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he became a lagger and pipefitter at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He worked his way up to a leadership role and retired as a Foreman for Shop 56. Always one not to keep still, he eventually retired as a plumber from the Honolulu Board of Water Supply. Sonny is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Winona Sai Lin Castro, children Wilbert Castro Jr. (Pixie), Wayne Castro (Suzanne), Wanette Feguis (Ray), Wendell Castro (Katherine), Warren Castro, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation 9:30 am & Service 10:30 am at Borthwick Mortuary - Makai Chapel on Friday, March 3, 2017. Burial at 1:00 pm at Hawaii Memorial Veteran's Cemetery.
