Linda Leialoha Mewlan (Kaauwai) Mokuau
Age 73, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Linda was born on June 9, 1943, the eldest child of the late George and Nancy Kaauwai of Nanakuli, Hawaii. She graduated from the Kamehameha Schools in 1961 and was employed by E. E. Black before relocating with her family to Molokai in 1975, where she was the restaurant manager at Hotel Molokai and alongside her husband, George Mokuau, they would go on to create one of the most successful Hawaiian-owned, sole proprietorship farms in the state of Hawaii, Mokuau Sweet Potato Farm. She married George on June 24, 1965 and together they had four children: daughter, Lisa (Henry) Kahue, son, Gary (Tina) Mokuau, daughter, Loyna (Darin Aki) Kamakeeaina and daughter, Lynn (Russell) DeCoite. She is also survived by her siblings: brother, George (Kathleen) Kaauwai, sister, Lani (Maneo) Honda, brother, Jack Kaauwai; sister, Rachel (Dale) Maddock; sister, Vickie (Mervin) Kauhane and brother, David (Lehua) Kaauwai. Linda had 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Oahu services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary at 2233 Nuuanu Avenue in Honolulu, Hawaii. Visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 p.m. and reception to follow. Moloka'i services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Hoolehua Congregational Church.
