TOMI TADOOKA BAILEY
Age 89, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017, at home with family at her bedside. Born and raised in Sapporo, Japan, Tomi was the fourth child of parents Tasaku and Shin Tadooka. At the age of 21, Tomi met and married Army Staff Sergeant Edward K. Bailey, Sr., a local boy from Happy Valley, Maui in May 1951. Married for 54 years, Ed and Tomi raised their seven children together in Waipahu. In 1962, Tomi began working for Hawaii U-Select Chinese Crack Seed Company. She started at the Kalihi Wigwam Store and later transferred to the Wigwam Store in Waipahu. After 32 years of dedicated service, Tomi retired from the Gem Store, Waipahu. Predeceased by her husband Edward K. Bailey, Sr., son James and grandson Ian Pezel, she is survived by sons, John (Yvonne), Edward, Mits (Cheryl), daughters Jan Bailey-Yoshino (Harvey), Ruby Pollock (Alan), Hannah Borges (Brian), 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel, on Monday, May 15, 2017, Visitation from 9-10 AM; Burial at 1 PM at the Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe. Aloha Attire.
