Passed away on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at the age of 74, from the effects of Parkinson's Disease. He was born on July 16, 1942 in Honolulu, Hawai'i. He was 3rd generation born in the islands on his mom's side (Irma Moniz). He attended Maryknoll up to his Soph. year (class of 1960). He was a true local boy growing up body surfing, eating plate lunches, malasadas & seeds, loving rock & roll and Hawaiian music and leading his own band, playing guitar, ukulele & singing. He was the best rhythm guitarist in Honolulu in his day. He also loved watching football, wearing his slippers & eating Haagen Dazs (coffee or vanilla). He cherished outings with his granddaughter back home & seeing his grandson. Gil was a great, loyal & helpful friend to many, a loving, caring & supportive father, a fun, loving & selfless grandpa "Baba", a sweet uncle, the best big brother, and was very close to his mother. He will be greatly missed!
