YOSHIRO NAKAMURA
On March 25, 2017, Yoshiro Nakamura passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years old in his hometown of Wahiawa. Born in Ninole, Hawaii, he was a lifelong attorney in Wahiawa as well as public servant. Yoshiro was a graduate of Leilehua High School, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and University of Minnesota Law School. Yoshiro passed the Hawaii State Bar in 1957, and a few years later began his public service career in the first and second Honolulu City Councils following Hawaii's statehood from 1961 through 1969. Yoshiro was also a member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives from 1977 to 1982, serving the people of his Central Oahu and North Shore district. He leaves a lifelong legacy of hard work and dedication to his family, community and constituency. He is survived by his wife Jane (Kitagawa), son John (Wendy Wakuya) Nakamura of Mission Viejo, CA; daughter Susan (Dr. Sidney Lee) Lee of Honolulu; grandchildren Sean Nakamura and Gianna Lee; sister Amy Tanaka of Los Altos, CA. Funeral services to honor Yoshiro's life will be held at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel on Friday, May 19th at 6:00 PM. Visitation at 5:30 PM; Service at 6:00 PM.
