June K.M. Chu82, of Honolulu, Hawaii, went home to her Lord peacefully on May 18, 2017 at Hi'olani Care Center at Kahala Nui with her children beside her. Survived by children, Donna Delaney (William), Diane Shizuru (Keith Nahale), David Chu (Joanna), grandchildren, David Delaney, Dax and Samantha Shizuru, Michael and Nicole Chu, brother, Walter Chun, sister, Goldie Siu (Walter), many nieces and nephews. June was a dynamic woman. She and Donald, dedicated Catholic converts, were the first team leaders (volunteer) for Marriage Encounter (ME) in Hawaii, doing ME outreach to many countries such as the Philippines, Guam, Japan, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, besides growing the ministry in Hawaii on all major islands. They also worked in the Office of Family Life for the diocese of Honolulu. As a Sacred Hearts Academy graduate, June led the class of '52 fundraising efforts for their 50th and 60th reunions, raising $50K and $60K respectively, and was also an honored participant at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sacred Hearts performing arts center. In her later years, she was an active resident of Kahala Nui, leaving her quintessential "June Chu" impression on those who knew her. Though she will be missed by family and friends, she is flying free together again with Donald. Visitation June 24, 2017 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church from 9:30-10:30 am. Mass to follow.
