Amy Tanner Berglund
Amy Tanner Berglund died on May 15, 2017 at the age of 96 at Kaneohe, Hawaii. Born in 1920 to S.O. and Johanna Tang, Amy moved from Minnesota to Hawaii in 1947 and remained here to teach English at McKinley High School from 1968 to 2006. "Bergie", as she was called by her students, received the honor of Teacher of the Year and retired from McKinley High at age 86, as the State of Hawaii's oldest full-time teacher. Amy had a quick wit and a fine sense of humor; she loved reading, good food, and travelling internationally with her good friends who brought her great joy and long-lasting friendship. She is survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Tang and several nieces and nephews. Amy has been laid to rest with her husband, Rex Berglund, at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
