EUNICE Y. M. CHUN LAU
94, died peacefully on June 4th, surrounded by three generations of her family. Predeceased by her husband, Kwock Nam Lau, she is survived by her children: Liana (Charles) Benn, Roger Lau, Phillip Lau, Lorraine (Eugene) Young, and hanai daughter Cathy Lin. She is also survived by her brothers: Tit Mun (Carol), David T.S. (Dolores), Tit Kwong (Lorraine), Tit Kwon (Ellie) Chun, sister-in-law Elsa Chun, sisters: Mary (Wah Gon) Tom and Susana (Ching Ping) Liu; 7 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Pui Duck (Leon) Lee, and brothers Tit Jong and Tit Houng Chun. She came to Hawaii in June 1941 with three younger brothers under her care. She later met and married Kwock Nam and they had four children. In 1966 she and her husband opened C&L Market in Chinatown and then in 1984 consolidated the family business to Royal Kitchen. They both were active supporters of several Chinese community organizations such as the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, United Chinese Society, Lung Doo, Lung Kong, Leong Doo Societies and the Lau Family Association. She was devoted to her family and business and was known for her generosity to friends, family, and strangers alike. Services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea - Vineyard Chapel, on Monday, June 26. Visitation hours are from 9:30 am; service begins at 11:00 am and graveside services will follow at 12:45 pm, Nu'uanu Memorial Park.
