JAMES YUTAKA UYEDA
82, of Wahiawa, HI, died at home on May, 27, 2017. James, also known as Jimmy, graduated from Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin and obtained Masters Degree in Education at University of Hawaii at Manoa. He served in the United States Air Force as an Electronics Warfare Officer, and was promoted to Captain upon discharge. Jimmy touched the lives of countless people as a music teacher in Wisconsin, Maui High, Stevenson Intermediate, Leilehua High, Leeward Community College, and Western Washington University. Jimmy was instrumental in designing the Leilehua High School Music building, which was named for him in 2005. After retiring from teaching, Jimmy worked as Executive Vice President for Regal Travel and International Management Company. He was also an ordained Zen Buddhist Priest. Jimmy is survived by his wife Lillian (nee Haramoto), daughter Jamie Y. Natividad, sons Kevin and Gareth, two grandsons, and 2 granddaughters. Visitation: 10am; Services: 11:30am on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary. Internment: 3:00pm Hawaiian Memorial Park.
