Of Kapaa died in Lihue, Kauai on June 4, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born in Griggsville, Illinois on June 29, 1923 and was a retired captain of the U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by his wife Dixie Laurel Kopps and is survived by four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
