RON BAUMGARTNER
July 11, 1947 - May 14, 2017 It is with the heaviest of hearts, we say goodbye to Ron Baumgartner, our husband, brother, father, uncle, nephew, and friend. Ron was born on July 11, 1947 in Oakland, CA and passed away on May 14, 2017 in Santa Rosa, CA with his family by his side. Ron courageously fought a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving husband, Tim Lawler, of Honolulu, HI and Santa Rosa, CA; his son, Erik Baumgartner and wife, Victoria; his brother Gary and wife, Kathy; his sister Carolyn LaFollette and husband, Gene; his uncle Jim McKenna and wife, Myrna; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ronald Baumgartner and Lorraine Asmussen. Ron was a veteran of the US Air Force, an active member of the Democratic Party, Free Wheelers Car Club and Waikiki Yacht Club. He loved reading and sports, especially attending the University of Hawaii football games, telling stories and laughing with friends and family. Ron was an avid traveler that loved to experience the culture and people that this world offered, including visiting all 50 States and Europe with his loving husband Tim. Ron enjoyed collecting Hawaiian memorabilia, antiques, and old cars, including the '92 Cadillac "Ruby," a great wine touring car. In 1989, Ron and Tim founded Makai Sales, a Hospitality-Design business serving the Hospitality and Health Care Industries throughout the Pacific Rim. We will celebrate his life and bid Ron "Aloha" on Saturday, July 1, 10 AM at the Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2121 Harrison St, Oakland, CA. We plan to honor Ron's love for Hawaii with Hawaiian attire. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Food For Thought, PO Box 1608, Forestville, CA 95436.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
