EMERY JOSEPH OPU'ULANI KAIAWE GIFFORD Emery Joseph Opu'ulani Kaiawe Gifford of Anahola, Kauai passed away on August 19, 2017, at the age of 80. He was born on December 24, 1936 in Lihue, Kauai. Retired Security Guard at Wilcox Hospital. He also worked at Hanalei Bay Resort and Better Brands. Emery served in the US Navy. He is preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth Kauo, mother Adelaide Gifford Calkin, sister Lynette Vaughan and his beloved "Grampa and Gramma" George and Annie Kaiawe. Emery is survived by his wife Carylee Gifford, stepsons Joel Pahukula and Kaleo (Andrea) Pahukula sisters Marie (Jim) Watson and Ilona Souza, niece, nephews, 3 grandchildren and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa. Visitation is at 9:00am with services at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Kauai Veteran's Cemetary in Hanapepe. The family suggests casual attire. Flowers are welcomed. Arrangements were handled by Bortwick Kauai Mortuary.
