Mel Mino Takaesu
56, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully at home under the compassionate care of Hospice Maui and his loving family. Services honoring Mr. Takaesu will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am. Mel said: "no wear rubbah slippahs and shorts, and no need flowers!" Mel's remains will be scattered at a later date. Mel was born on January 29, 1961 in Honolulu, to Minoru & Patsy Takaesu. He graduated from St. Louis High School on Oahu. Here on Maui, Mel worked in the maintenance department at Kaiser Permanente. He will be fondly remembered as "Mr. Aloha", a man who easily turned strangers in to friends. He was a funny man, with quick wit and a sense of humor. He was a hard worker, and took great pride in providing for his family. Mel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 15 years, Shirley (Tajiri) Takaesu; their son, Jake Takaesu; parents, Minoru & Patsy Takaesu of Oahu.
